Extra Challenging Variant
You can use any or all of these modifications to make this easier:
After using a spice cup, place it back in exactly the same position it was before. Do not do any position switching whatsoever.
Consider using less than 5 spices.
If you choose the wrong spice, don’t feel obliged to use it in your dish.
Take 30 seconds instead of 15 to memorize the spices before covering with lids in the beginning.
Count your spices and take out twice as many cups [so if you have 5 spices, you’ll get out 10 cups]. Each spice will get placed into two cups instead of just one. Arrange them in a grid fashion. Look at the spices for 30 seconds and try to memorize their positions. Then cover tightly with lids.
When you get to a part of the recipe that involves a spice, in order to use the spice you want, you must play a quick matching game with the grid to reveal both cups that contain your desired spice. Play using typical Concentration rules.
Reveal the contents of one cup, then another. If they do not match or they match to be an undesired spice, both lids must be placed back on. Keep trying until you get a match for your desired spice, then toss it into your dish as desired. Continue to follow rules 4-6.
